All material in this website has been developed by Henk Akkermans. Henk is fundamentally interested in organizational network settings where results can only be achieved through collaboration of multiple independent parties. For the past 25 years, Henk, with a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology, has been working in and with supply chains in a number of technology-driven industries, in particular electronics, aerospace, telecom, shipbuilding, process industry and utilities.
As an academic, Henk has written dozens of publications on how supply chains in these industries work and how their performance can be improved. The bulk of these articles is based on field studies he conducted in these supply chains as a business consultant.
Presently, Henk is Professor of Supply Chain Management at the Department of Management of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management of Tilburg University as well as Director of the World Class Maintenance foundation. He continues to work as an independent consultant, coach and trainer from his own company Research in Business BV.
The material contained in this website is based on 15 years of Henk’s consulting and researching and teaching. It contains 9 cases of real major issues faced by 9 European companies, the oldest case starting in 1997, the most recent one in 2007. Every case is accompanied by a video-interview with key players and a Sim, a simulation game that illustrates the supply chain dynamics underlying the issues the companies faced. Findings from most of the cases have been published in leading academic journals as well.
